Delegates from 30 FOREST EUROPE signatories (29 European countries and the European Union) and 6 observer organizations met in Madrid, Spain, on 23 March 2015, in order to work on a draft decision to be taken by the ministers responsible for forests in Europe at the FOREST EUROPE Extraordinary Ministerial Conference that will be held on 21 October 2015 in Madrid. The meeting, which was scheduled for 2 days, ran smoothly and so its work was completed in one day.
The basis for the drafting was the text agreed for discussion at the FOREST EUROPE Expert Level Meeting held in Cuenca, Spain, on 6-7 November 2014.
The text agreed at this drafting meeting will have to be formally approved by the Expert Level Meeting that will gather at the end of June/ beginning of July 2015 in Madrid.
